Adult Social Care Accommodation Strategy 2024-2034
Find out more about Islington's Adult Social Care Accommodation Strategy, which sets out our long-term plan for accommodation-based care and support services
Our principles
The ten principles guiding this strategy were developed over time, through listening to feedback from residents about our offer and speaking to the people who provide care and support to our residents. Between April and September 2023, we held seven focus groups involving over 100 residents, service users and carers to understand what was important to them.
- Principle one: enables independence and keeps families together
- Principle two: prevents and delays escalating need
- Principle three: genuinely affordable
- Principle four: physically and culturally accessible
- Principle five: feels like home
- Principle six: as close to home as possible
- Principle seven: meets multiple needs
- Principle eight: promotes connections and reduces isolation
- Principle nine: strengths based
- Principle ten: feels safe and connected to the community
To deliver accommodation and care services in line with the principles, it is critical to consider:
- security of tenure
- workforce development
- planning processes
- building quality
- community networks and neighbourhoods
- market responsiveness.
