Paid research service

Find out about hiring the services of an independent, private researcher who can undertake work and searches on your behalf.

Collections in the Local History Centre may be consulted by anyone free of charge. However, while local history staff are pleased to assist visitors to the centre with their research, they are unable to carry out work on your behalf.

If you are unable to visit the centre, you can employ a record agent to act on your behalf. Obtain details of agents by writing to the Secretary of the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA), Box A, 14 Charterhouse Buildings, Goswell Road, London EC1M 7BA. Alternatively, visit the AGRA website.

Individual researchers

The following people have indicated that they are prepared to carry out various searches for a fee. All researchers are also willing to undertake research at other record offices and libraries including London Metropolitan Archives and The National Archives.

In all cases you are requested to deal directly with the individual or organisations concerned. Please note that this list does not constitute a recommendation by the Local History Centre, and the London Borough of Islington cannot accept responsibility for any work carried out by private researchers.
