The children's library at Archway Library is currently closed

This is because we're carrying out improvement works. It will re-open on Wednesday 15 January 2025. The adult library is open as usual.

Christmas and new year opening times and services

Find out our opening times and service changes over Christmas and New Year holidays. This includes changes to bin collection days, parking and customer contact centre opening hours.

Islington Town Hall will be closed from Thursday 2 to Monday 6 January 2025 for planned maintenance. Registrar services will be reopen on Monday 6 January 2025.

First Steps Learning Centre

If you need help using your smartphone, tablet or digital camera, you can get free, one-to-one support. Sessions are every Thursday by appointment only. To book, please call 020 7527 7002. 

The centre also hosts classes run by Islington Adult Community Learning (ACL).

What we offer

The centre offers a wide range of free courses including computing, English for speakers of other languages (ESOL), English, maths, personal development and employability. 

Our courses are designed to give you the information, advice, guidance and support to help you progress into further education, training, employment or voluntary work. 

All courses are free and are offered to Islington residents or parents with children in Islington schools. Our courses are aimed at people who are aged 19 years or over, unemployed or low waged and receiving benefits. Please contact centre staff if you aren't sure if you are eligible.
