Council Tax Energy Rebate (CTER)

In response to rising energy prices the Government announced that households in council tax bands A-D will get a £150 rebate between April and September 2022

Most households in Council Tax bands A to D will qualify for a payment (rebate) of £150, if they are occupied as a sole or main residence on 1 April 2022. Please note, the payment cannot be made for a second home or if a property is unoccupied on this date.

For more detail about what the Government has proposed, please see the Government's Council Tax energy rebate information leaflet. The current Government guidance states all payments must be made by 30 September 2022.

If you paid by direct debit before March 2022, you will receive this CTER as a payment into your direct debit bank account during the month of April 2022.

If you don’t already pay by direct debit, you can set it up online. You will still have to complete the application below for the rebate after setting up your direct debit.

Applications for the council tax energy rebate for bands A-D have now closed. The payment of £150 will be credited to your council tax account at the latest by the 7 July 2022 and your council tax bill will be reduced by that amount. If you have a My eAccount you can check your account on line.’
