Apply for a new dry cleaning permit

If you are starting a dry cleaning establishment in Islington you must apply for a permit from us.

Having a permit allows us to regulate businesses using polluting chemicals and protect staff and customers.

Apply

Before you apply for a permit, you are strongly advised to read relevant parts of the Defra general guidance manual.

There is a one off application fee of £155 for the permit and an annual renewal fee, which will vary based on the risk rating of your business.

You can download the permit application form from ‘Useful documents’ and email it to pollution@islington.gov.uk. We will contact you to take fee payment over the phone.

Alternatively, you can send the form to Pollution Team, Islington Council, 222 Upper Street, London, N1 1XR.

Renewing your licence

We will invoice you each year to renew your licence.

The annual renewal fee will depend on the risk rating of your business. This depends on a range of factors and how well you meet the requirements of your environmental permit. The fee could be £79, £158 or £237.
