How to vote

You must already be registered to be able to vote in the General Election on 4 July 2024. Only people on the electoral roll can vote in person or cast their vote in any other way.

You can:

  • vote in person on polling day, which is Thursday 4 July 2024
  • vote by post if you have already applied for one before Wednesday 19 June 2024. You will receive your postal vote pack around a week before polling day depending on when you applied. If you applied near the deadline, your pack will arrive closer to polling day.
  • vote by proxy (a nominated person who will vote in-person for you) if you have already applied for one before Wednesday 26 June 2024.

If you are voting in person, you must bring photo ID to vote.

If you do not have the right type of voter ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate (VAC). You must have either photo ID or a VAC already to vote in the General Election on 4 July 2024.

Find your polling station

Your polling station is on your polling card that you will have received in the post. You can check where your polling station is using your post code.

Residents of the De Beauvoir ward will now be voting for an MP in the Islington South and Finsbury constituency because of a cross-boundary with Hackney. You can vote in your normal polling station and can vote the same as usual.

  • All polling stations are wheelchair accessible.
  • Polling staff are trained to help disabled and other voters to vote.
  • Equipment (such as ramps, visual enhancement aids, low level polling booths and Braille information) is available at all stations.
