Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood

As part of our efforts to create a cleaner, greener, and healthier borough we want to create a liveable neighbourhood in the Annette Road area.

The liveable neighbourhood will create pleasant and animated streets, where communities can come together to spend time with their neighbours, support local shops and where children can play and travel safely.

With more greening including plants and trees, seating for neighbours and also reduced traffic volumes, the liveable neighbourhood will transform streets across the scheme area.

We are listening to feedback from local people and groups, and we are looking to prioritise the following improvements:

  • creating safe streets for children to travel to school and areas for play

  • reducing through-traffic, improving road safety and air quality

  • supporting local businesses to thrive

The liveable neighbourhood will also work to:

  • create greener and more pleasant streets

  • make it easier and safer to walk, wheel and cycle

  • bring the community together

How can I get involved and give my views on the Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood?

There are multiple ways that you will be able to give your views on our proposals for the Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood, up to date information is found at our Let's Talk Islington engagement page.

Come to an engagement event

We are holding mapping exercises so that local people can come and tell us about their views in person. We will also present some draft design ideas for the Liveable Neighbourhood.

The first engagement event will take place on Wednesday 24 July 2024 at Pakeman Primary School from 6.30 - 8pm. Members of the community will be able give their views on a liveable neighbourhood in the Annette Road area and identify issues in the area that they would like to see improved. To attend this event you must sign up in advance.

A further drop-in event will be held at the Holloway Neighbourhood Group community centre on Mayton Street on Wednesday 31 July 2024, from 3.30 – 6pm.  Residents are welcome to come to view details of the project and provide feedback on the ideas.

We will list details of the subsequent consultation events under ‘Planning the liveable neighbourhood’ further up this webpage once the details are confirmed.

Complete the online survey

The survey, which can be found on our Let's Talk Islington engagement page, invites you to submit your ideas and any thoughts you have for the area, and then runs through the draft design ideas that we have developed.

Give us your views by email

You can also contact us by emailing AnnetteRoadLN@islington.gov.uk to give us your views about the plan to develop a liveable neighbourhood in the Annette Road area.

When will we be consulted on the Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood?

After we have carried out public engagement events (see “How can I get involved and give my views on the Annette Road Liveable Neighbourhood?”, above), we will develop final designs and then we will carry out a formal public consultation in due course.

The public consultation will help us decide whether to implement any liveable neighbourhood measures in and around Annette Road. We will not implement any measures before we complete the consultation.
