Parking suspensions for funerals, weddings, and community events

Check what you need to do and other useful information about applying for parking suspensions for community events, funerals, and weddings and civil partnerships.

Funerals

We understand it may be difficult to complete an online application at this time. If you are unable to complete the online application, please email parkingsuspensions@islington.gov.uk.

Weddings and civil partnerships

We can suspend parking for weddings and civil partnerships near or around where the wedding or civil partnership ceremony is taking place.

The parking suspension will only be for the vehicle or carriage, but we will work with you to accommodate your needs where possible.

Relatives or friends attending the event can apply for waivers by emailing enforcement.contracts@islington.gov.uk and include 'Waivers required' in the subject line. There may be a charge for the waivers.

Community events

Before completing the online application form to apply for a suspension, please email streetworks@islington.gov.uk.

Parking suspension signs are placed where possible, at the locations for the event 10 days before the event starts. The signs will be checked again before the event and replaced if required.

We do not issue parking tickets or relocate vehicles parked in suspended bays for community events. This means the council will not remove any vehicles within the suspended areas before or during the event. The onus is on the event organiser and marshalls to engage with the community before the event and make sure the area is free of vehicles before the event starts.

Parking suspensions are usually booked 8.30am – 6.30pm for the day. These times are flexible, so please let us know if the event is cancelled or finishes early so we can reinstate parking.

To remove the suspensions sign, please email parking.equipment@islington.gov.uk.
