Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.  

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs 

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, but avoid travelling unless it is essential. 

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Highbury Fields park improvement project

Updates and developments on our plans to improve Highbury Fields for everyone.

Highbury Fields project update - Spring 2026

Thank you for your ongoing interest while we make improvements to Highbury Fields. 

The plans for the new Highbury Café are progressing well; we now have a new proposed design which contains the following facilities:
• Park keepers hut
• Public toilets
• Accessible toilet
• Changing Place toilet
• Café servery
• Indoor and outdoor seating area

The new facilities will be thoughtfully designed to add to the character of Highbury Fields. We will be sharing more detailed designs in the Summer at public information events.

We are fully committed to creating high-quality, accessible amenities that serve the needs of all park visitors.

Until the new food and drink facilities are ready, Dusty Knuckle temporary cafe will still serve the community every day from 7.30am to 3.30pm so you can still enjoy great food and drink in the heart of the park.
